Description
New Message was born out of the idea that we are not alone in the universe and that somewhere in the outer space there are civilizations that listen out for signals of life just like we do here on Earth. With them in mind, in order to describe our world to them, a multi-threaded message consisting of images, sounds and videos is being created.
New message is a collective project. We do not exclude nor put value on any of the statements — there is no imposed subject or overarching question. We want everyone to be able to speak on their own behalf, because we believe that only in this way new message will be as inclusive and egalitarian as possible.
It is not the first time that we send a message in a bottle to ourselves / others. This time, however, there isn’t one privileged person who would decide what this message would contain. The new message is collective and subjective; it is an infinite polyphony of messages and information, including non-scientific ones. Anyone who takes part in the project can choose how they want to talk about who they are and where they come from.
What can humanity say about itself? We will learn that in the process. Our first goal is to create a contemporary archive of humankind. The second is to look at it as if it were a mirror.
