Exhibition description
“The Life and Death of Janina Wegrzynowska” is a project at the intersection of theater, visual arts and documentary. It takes as its starting point the figure of an artist who dedicated her entire life to creative work and remained completely unknown to both the wider public and the artistic community. The basis of the project is the archive of works, objects and documents left by the artist. It becomes a source of knowledge about Wegrzynowska and at the same time a basis for various activities. The final result is a performance/performative installation that completely renounces the presence of actors. The model presented at the exhibition refers to the artist’s death. Her dead body remained for a month in a closed apartment, sitting on an armchair. This information is not revealed to the public during the performance.
